Position Summary

The System Integration and Production Test Engineer will be responsible for developing, executing, and supporting system integration and production-level test activities for mission-critical hardware and software systems. This role requires strong technical acumen in system-level testing, hardware/software integration, and hands-on experience with production test environments. The ideal candidate will design and implement test systems and procedures, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure product quality through rigorous validation and production testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead system integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) of hardware and software components into fully operational systems.
  • Develop integration and production test plans, automated test scripts, and test procedures supporting both engineering development and production line testing.
  • Design and maintain test fixtures, hardware interfaces, and test equipment setups used in manufacturing and system qualification.
  • Collaborate with design, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure smooth transition from engineering to production.
  • Support and optimize production line test processes, improving test efficiency, repeatability, and throughput.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system and test anomalies.
  • Ensure test methods comply with DO-160, DO-254, DO-178, and MIL-STD-810 standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed test documentation, including verification matrices, data summaries, and traceability reports.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during production testing, troubleshooting hardware and software integration issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, customer briefings, and technical audits as the subject matter expert for test systems.

  • Embedded mission computing processing systems
  • Time sensitive networking (TSN) and Digital Backbone networks
  • Military Aircraft sensor systems
  • Aircraft survivability systems

 

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science with at least five (5) years of experience in one or more of the domain areas listed below; or,
In lieu of a degree, at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in one or more of the domain areas listed below.

  • Experience developing and implementing tools to conduct requirements management and traceability
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo
  • Experience with C/C++, Python and Microsoft Developer Studio
  • Experience with Integration and Test engineering, with test automation methods
  • Experience with SW verification methods and practices
  • Experience with DO-254 and DO-178
  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems
  • Strong technical writing proficiency

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear and accurate engineering artifacts.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or KiCad.
  • Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
  • Must have experience in production line testing
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and teamwork orientation.
  • US Citizenship Required

Compensation Statement (New York Pay Transparency Notice)

In accordance with New York State’s pay transparency requirements, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is $102,000 to $120,000. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the base salary that Thunderbolt Solutions reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting.

Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant experience, education, certifications, specific technical skills, internal equity, and current market conditions.
This position may also be eligible for a company bonus and comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, paid time off (PTO), and a 401(k) retirement plan.
